Life can be hard. We have all been there. Despite our very best efforts to make changes and cope, we can all feel stuck, which comes from our focus on wanting and even fruitlessly trying to change things we cannot change. “Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is essential for happiness.” It takes courage to know when and how to ask for help and I applaud you for considering counseling. You have taken the first step in healing by acknowledging your needs.

My practice as a psychologist is focused on older adolescents and adults who present with a wide range of concerns, including relationships, disordered eating and body image, sexual identity, stress and coping, academics, depression, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. I am honored and privileged to work with people and strive to help them improve their lives by highlighting their personal strengths and sharpening and developing skills to improve mood, raise self-esteem, embrace self-acceptance, restore calm, and establish balance in their overall well-being.  We will do this by exploring your relationships and your coping strategies and seeking to understand how they have served and impacted you. I will collaborate with you to help you find the courage to determine what is holding you back so you can design a life that is more fulfilling and in line with your values. You are the expert on you and I am here to provide support, coaching, skills, clinical knowledge, and feedback to help you. I work in a collaborative manner with my clients and am influenced by cognitive-behavioral principles, solution-focused therapy, positive psychology, values analysis, skills training (relaxation, mindfulness, academic, assertiveness, stress management and coping), and interpersonal theories. Because one size does not fit all, we will identify your strengths and resources and then tailor techniques that are best suited for you on your path of healing.
