At times, life throws obstacles into our paths; some of these obstacles are small and surmountable, while others are large and difficult to overcome without a boost. When you encounter such a barrier, whether it’s related to relationships, work, or something deeper within yourself, counseling can help you to access your ability to produce positive change in your life. Psychological symptoms often represent a collection of learned coping strategies that are no longer serving a useful purpose. Other types of symptoms arise due to biological or hereditary factors that may seem as though they are outside your control. As a therapist, I comprehend and value this complexity, as well as the unique qualities and strengths of every individual who walks through my door. I believe that psychotherapy should help to alleviate your distressing symptoms and provide the boost you need to prevail over current obstacles. On a deeper level, therapy should also foster change in underlying psychological patterns, enabling greater satisfaction, productivity, and a sense of mastery in your work and relationships.

My goal is to provide insight and support when you feel confronted by difficult choices or adversity, and to explore and practice coping strategies that foster growth and empower you to take the path that is right for you. I work with adults on a full range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma/ PTSD, coping skills, addiction, relationship issues, illness, pain, grief & loss, and general adjustment to life changes.
