Individual Counseling for Adults

Are life’s complications interfering with your goals and leading to depression, anxiety, and self-sabotage? Are unresolved issues from your past getting in the way of happiness today? Our stressful lives and unhealthy patterns can get in the way of a full expression of potential.  Are you ready to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and improve your relationships? Do you want to release yourself from self limiting thought patterns, and develop your personal strengths? Do you want tools to feel happier and more peaceful? It takes strength to sit with the things in life that cause us great discomfort. I am inspired & amazed by the opportunity for growth & healing when individuals enter into counseling courageously.

I offer individual counseling to help adult clients develop the strength to bring balance, wellness, and satisfaction into their lives through; healing trauma, changing self-defeating thoughts and beliefs, cultivating self-care, fostering healthy relationships and practicing health and wellness.  My therapeutic approach is direct and active, promoting clarity, healing and change. Depending on your needs as a person and the issues you are dealing with, we, as therapeutic partners, will tailor a plan to best fit your needs. I am candid and friendly.  There is never a worry about “What does she REALLY think?”  We are all trying to get through life as best as we can and I expect people to own their own problems and work toward their goals.  But also, none of us are perfect and being too hard on ourselves doesn’t help either.  It’s a balance.

I acknowledge that the decision to seek out healing in the form of counseling is a courageous act. I consider it a privilege and an honor to work with people who want to find balance in their lives. I provide a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere where we can work collaboratively.  Through kindness, strength, and educational support we will navigate your healing journey. I look forward to meeting you.

Individual Counseling for Children and Adolescents

Since the onset of my career I have enjoyed working with children and adolescents, both individually and with their families, to build a supportive and empowering foundation for them to be successful at home and at school. Drawing primarily from a strength-based and solution-focused approach, I also incorporate the psychodynamic, family systems, play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapies in my work. I work to engage a child, relieve distress and ease symptoms that interfere with growth. I help children feel accountable and more importantly, recognize they have the ability to grow.

I appreciate the importance of collaboration and communication with everyone involved in the child’s life and will consult with other professionals, parents and school personnel, to put the pieces of the puzzle together that will help explain your child’s struggles. In collaboration with you, we will develop an action plan and interventions that are tailored to your child and family’s unique needs.

During the day, I work as a School Social Worker providing a range of mental health services to address the academic and/or social-emotional needs of all students. I provide assessments and evaluations for special educational needs, as well as, social/emotional and behavioral interventions for general education.

My specific areas of experience and expertise include, but are not limited to: working with children and adolescents with multiple psychological and behavioral issues; ADHD/ADD, OCD, PTSD, conduct problems, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, oppositional defiance, low self-esteem and other debilitating behavior/disorder that a youth may exhibit. My extensive school-based experiences assist me in bringing about comprehensive changes in various aspects of a child’s life.

I also offer parent coaching and parental consultations regarding IEP’s and 504 plans for special education.
