Since the onset of my career I have enjoyed working with children and adolescents, both individually and with their families, to build a supportive and empowering foundation for them to be successful at home and at school. Drawing primarily from a stengths-based and solution-focused approach, I also incorporate the psychodynamic, family systems, play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapies in my work. I work to engage a child, relieve distress and ease symptoms that interfere with growth. I help children feel accountable and more importantly, recognize they have the ability to grow.
I appreciate the importance of collaboration and communication with everyone involved in the child’s life and will consult with other professionals, parents and school personnel, to put the pieces of the puzzle together that will help explain your child’s struggles. In collaboration with you, we will develop an action plan and interventions that are tailored to your child and family’s unique needs.
During the day, I work as a School Social Worker providing a range of mental health services to address the academic and/or social-emotional needs of all students. I provide assessments and evaluations for special educational needs, as well as, social/emotional and behavioral interventions for general education.
My specific areas of experience and expertise include, but are not limited to: working with children and adolescents with multiple psychological and behavioral issues; ADHD/ADD, OCD, PTSD, conduct problems, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, oppositional defiance, low self-esteem and other debilitating behavior/disorder that a youth may exhibit. My extensive school-based experiences assist me in bringing about comprehensive changes in various aspects of a child’s life.
I also offer parent coaching and parental consultations regarding IEP’s and 504 plans for special education.
