When my clients come in feeling like the weight of the world is on their shoulders and they can’t see their way to happiness, I strive to help them clear out the clutter of their mind and to look at things in a new way.

Greetings!  My name is Cairn and I am here to provide a safe and supportive place for you to work on what is important to you. Change can be difficult.  My goal is to provide a well-supported and welcoming space for individuals to explore within, learn about themselves more deeply, and heal from the source of their problems.  I understand that life can present itself with challenges that, at times, surpass our current skill-set to manage them effectively.  We all have the ability to feel stronger, more regulated, functional and secure.   By working together we can come up with refreshing ideas to reach your goals.

I have worked with individuals across the life span, with a primary focus on working with adolescents and adults.  I have experience working with both developmentally normal challenges as well as more complex behavioral concerns related to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, disruptive behaviors and trauma.

I have a passion for working with children and adolescents age(s) 8 through 17.  Adolescence is a stage of pivotal change and a time in our lives that can feel awkward and isolated.  I work with youth to develop a sense of personal strength and capacity to set and achieve goals.  I work with youth and their families to understand the basis of their current challenge and collaborate to develop resources and skills that are developmentally appropriate for a successful resolution.  I have had the privilege of working with youth who seek therapeutic services for a range of issues, including traumatic exposure, depression, anxiety, and a myriad of adjustment issues, including, but not limited to: divorce, adoption, new family members, and/or school-related challenges.

My counseling approach is holistic.  I use techniques that include cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, play therapy and Expressive Art Therapies.  I prefer to use a variety of treatment techniques specific to the client and the presenting issues.  I empower clients to clarify goals, mind meaning and live life more fully.

I am a life-long learner and continually seek out trainings and other opportunities for personal growth and professional development.  I enjoy clients new to therapy or those who have prior experience with therapy and are ready to drive back in.  I welcome and work with clients regardless or race, gender, or sexual orientation.
