Empowerment and empathy are at the heart of my practice. I meet with adults and children ages 4 and up who are experiencing mental health concerns including anxiety, mood, and adjustment disorders, trauma symptoms, and social stressors. I see mental health concerns as responses to painful or unjust circumstances, and I think healing and change are possible. To support you in naming and moving toward goals, I listen and offer reflections, skills, mindfulness strategies, and creative self-reflection opportunities. I believe in collaborating with my clients and using a strengths-based, holistic approach to develop a treatment plan which works for you. Getting to know you and the circumstances that affect you is a critical part of the therapeutic relationship. Sometimes that may mean focusing on how to cultivate self-compassion, sometimes developing better coping skills to use in your current situation, or sometimes finding new ways of thinking about things.

In addition to therapy, my work as a school psychologist and mental health partner in schools allows me to support students and families in a K-12 setting as well as educators and people working in helping professions.  With this background I can assist your family through as you navigate the process of special education eligibility, interpreting psychoeducational assessments, developing Individual Education Programs (IEPs), 504 plans, accommodations, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) by coordinating with school based mental health providers and teachers to support your child’s growth. I believe psychoeducation can empower students and families to advocate for what they need at school and in life. Or perhaps you are an educator or a helping professional, and you are looking for support for yourself so you can fill your own cup while helping others.   Through my lived experience, I know how important it is to cultivate your own mental health in order to show up as your best self for your students, clients, or patients!

I understand and appreciate that finding a therapist for your child, or reaching out for your own support, can be a difficult step to take. A goal that I strive for is to make the therapy process creative and even enjoyable for individuals, children, youth, (and parents) even when working through difficult or painful topics. In therapy, you can navigate life transitions, connect with people you care about, explore spirituality and nature, make sense of life experiences, and more. You can become more yourself, love yourself more, and live a more deeply fulfilling life.
