Have you ever felt better after a having a deep conversation? I view psychotherapy, which is largely a talk-therapy, as just that–having a deep conversation with someone. Only here, within the confidential confines of the consulting room, you are having said deep conversations with a licensed mental health professional, such as myself. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, so I place primacy of mental health on interpersonal relationships. I also received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, which had an emphasis on what is known as “depth psychology.” Depth psychology is an approach to looking at the human experience, and all its woes, with the old notion of “soul” in mind. Soul here is not some metaphysical thing, no, it is a quality or dimension of experience which connects us to the deepest sense of ourselves, a lot of which does lay outside of the everyday conscious awareness of what we call the “ego.” So working with me, a depth psychologically informed marriage and family therapist, would look like an adventure in co-investigation of how the primary relationships (past and present) you have/had in your life affects you today, and how they manifest in your life often masked in symbolic language. Together, we will uncover and decipher the metaphoric language of the body, behavior, non-verbals, relationship patterns, and yes even nightly dreams, to assist you in considering your whole psyche, conscious and unconscious agendas, toward living a life lived out of your best-self.
Psychotherapy and counseling are more than a place to vent. Clinical interventions, defined goals and psychotherapy can help improve your life.
I use traditional treatments as well as new and scientifically proven techniques to help guide each client to their personalized goals.
