To be a person is to have problems. Crisis and change are constant. If there is one thing we can count on in life it is change; expected or unexpected, wanted or unwanted. Perhaps it is a loss, a difficult transition, a depressed or anxious mood, a new diagnosis, chronic pain, becoming a caregiver, parenting a child with a disability—it can be anything that alters your life plans, your relationships, expectations, sense of self, and daily functioning. Together we can foster change and take concrete steps to achieve your goals and identify solutions that work best for everyone involved.
I bring to my practice not only rigorous academic training, but the wisdom and humility of over 26 years of experience. I have a deep respect for the therapeutic process and trust the ability of therapy to change lives. Along with compassion and experienced listening, I am an active therapist, using humor and patience as we understand not only the different sources that brought you to therapy, but what steps you might take to change old thinking and create better decisions. I focus on providing clients with coping skills to help them manage nervousness, obsessive toughs and behaviors, low mood, inability to enjoy life, sadness, and difficulty in relationships, Tools include but are not limited to: learning various ways to relax, assertiveness skills, communication skills , and how to “teach others how to treat you.”
I am particularly interested in supporting individuals, couples and families dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors, stress management and the impacts of these issues on the individual, families and relationships. I specialize in working with children through adults, focusing on alleviating emotional distress and making real change in daily functioning. I would be honored to work with you.
