Jerome Myerson, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

I know that finding the right therapist can be a frustrating process. There are a lot of options in the Longmont area and sorting through seemingly endless pages and profiles can get tiresome fast.

So why me? I bring an optimistic, collaborative, non-judgemental approach to my work. Even the difficult experiences in life––the sadness, frustration, worry, confusion, and loneliness––are fundamentally sane. These experiences, while profoundly unpleasant, are the mind’s reaction to things that are out of balance. Through an open exploration, they can point you toward wholeness and health.

I work with children through adults and offer individual, family and couples counseling.  I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and mindfulness. In essence, the way we think about things often isn’t accurate. Even though we may know this, we may still believe our thoughts and react to them as if they were 100% true. Through the process of counseling, we will examine thought patterns and learn how to react to things in a more logical, helpful, way.

So if you are feeling down, worried, alone, or lost, reach out. You do not have to do it alone.

Being in an intimate relationship is hard. Have you found that, no matter what you do, you and your partner end up back at the same old issues? Are you deadlocked on important aspects of your lives? Are you like two ships sailing past each other in the night? These are painful, exhausting, and frustrating places to be.

Fortunately, couple’s counseling can help you rekindle the connection that you both deserve. I like to use the metaphor of a garden. Gardens need tending otherwise they will wither. Similarly, when relationships get stuck, they need some intentional tending––communication skills, structure, insight––to get back on track.

I am passionate about being there for couples as they find their way to a more fulfilling, supportive, place with each other. My role is to provide structure, specific tools, and strategies in a nonjudgmental environment so that you can have the kind of relationship or marriage you deserve.

Couples counseling typically takes place weekly or biweekly in 50-minute sessions. It helps couples—married or not —understand and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships.

Couples counseling gives couples the tools to communicate better, negotiate differences, problem solve and even argue in healthier ways.

Adolescents can be creative, smart, interesting, and inspired. They can also be moody, self-centered, secretive and impulsive. It can be hard to tell if what they’re going through is just normal development, or if they need a little extra support.

Counseling can help adolescents find and stay on a healthy path as they navigate the complex and demanding world of peer relationships, individuation, and school.

Counseling can help adolescents with:

  • Healthy choice making
  • Stress
  • School
  • Screen/internet addiction
  • Meaning and motivation
  • Sexuality
  • Depression

Sessions are 45 minutes long and often take place weekly or biweekly. I use a strength-based positive approach in my work with adolescents.

Are you feeling stressed? Worried? Trying to balance career, a relationship, friends, and family? As men, we have a lot on our plates. Counseling can help.

We often take for granted that we need to take care of our physical bodies, but we don’t always remember to take care of our minds.

Counseling can help you feel better, be more in touch with your sense of meaning, and help you manage your relationships.

Counseling can help with:

  • Relationships
  • Stress
  • Worry and anxiety
  • Career issues
  • Meaning
  • Depression
  • Transitions

Sessions are 45 minutes long and often take place weekly or biweekly. I use a strength-based positive approach in my work.
