Jerome Myerson, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Are you are feeling worried or down, lost or alone? Inside even our most painful experiences there is an impulse toward health and wellbeing. There is a myth that something has to be really wrong for you to go to counseling. This is simply not true. While counseling can certainly help with serious, hard to deal with, states of being, the majority of people in counseling are well adjusted healthy people. Everyone goes through rough spots. Everyone has painful confusing experiences. A little support goes a long way.

Picking a therapist can be a frustrating process. With seemingly endless profiles to sort through it can feel overwhelming. It is also an important choice, as your comfort level with your therapist is one of the most important elements of the counseling process.  So what makes me unique as a therapist? I believe that therapy is about open exploration, curiosity, and support. The painful things in your life are sometimes sane responses to areas that are out of balance. With nonjudgmental exploration, you can move through them into a more fulfilled, connected, place.

I work with children through adults and offer individual, family and couples counseling.  I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and mindfulness. In essence, the way we think about things often isn’t accurate. Even though we may know this, we may still believe our thoughts and react to them as if they were 100% true. Through the process of counseling, we will examine thought patterns and learn how to react to things in a more logical, helpful, way.

So if you are feeling down, worried, alone, or lost, reach out. You do not have to do it alone.
