Gentle inquiry, compassionate listening, and unconditional acceptance–these are the pillars of my approach to counseling individuals (teens and adults), couples, families, and groups. I am here to guide and comfort you through grief and loss, to help you negotiate major life changes, to assist with trauma, anxiety, or anger issues, and to help you achieve and maintain healthy relationships with yourself and others.
I use traditional (talk, CBT) and alternative (mindfulness, EMDR) therapy in our work together. I introduce tools to help you access, manage, and process feelings held in the body, and to explore the ways past experiences impact you today. I also incorporate creative expression and therapeutic writing as appropriate.
I am bilingual Spanish/English and have provided therapy to diverse populations in agencies and community counseling centers. As a former professor, I also counsel professionals about career changes and workplace-related issues. I am a writer, teacher and writing coach and interested in the connection between writing and healing.
